SPEED OPERATION |
HI Everyone,
Hope all is well and welcome to the new users of Derbyshire Alert and hope you find these alerts useful.
On Friday afternoon on the 1st of May, the Swadlincote SNT conducted another Speed Operation on Woodville Road, Overseal. Not only were we checking drivers speed but also stopping and pulling over vehicles for road worthiness, i.e.. Drivers with unsecure loads on trailers or vans, faulty headlights and also non-users of seatbelts and drivers not using hand-free devices for mobile phones. Also, a driver was stopped ensuring that their dog was correctly restrained. Uk law states that pets must be suitably restrained using harnesses, carriers, crates or dog guards, to prevent distractions and to keep animals in the back seat or boot when possible. This is because of airbags setting off if an accident has occurred and therefore serious injury may occur. A loose dog/animal interfering with the driver can lead to charges of careless driving. Insurance companies may refuse claims if a pet was loose and contributed to an accident. Do NOT leave dogs/animals unattended in a vehicle as temperature rise quickly in vehicles causing serious consequences. Finally I am please to say that on this occasion there was no tickets issued, and even the pony and cart nicely trotted past. Enjoy your bank holiday and keep safe
